The sponsor is recognized for having made publication possible, however this is as a service to the profession rather than promoting a product or brand.
PL publications can be briefed by the client, who may also provide content and KOL contributors. Content can promote brand messages and are generally designed to encourage HCP’s to recommend or prescribe a specific drug.
In our experience, overtly promotional content is often treated with suspicion by HCP’s. So we ensure that content is high quality and delivers learning outcomes, which increase the value to HCP’s and also reinforce brand objectives for the sponsor.
Independent Research shows us that independent medical publications are highly valued by healthcare professionals. In primary care, 80% of GPs find printed medical publications useful, 73% find medical journal websites useful, with only 18% finding Pharma company websites useful. In secondary care 90% of physicians find printed medical publications useful, 87% find medical journal websites useful, but only 16% find Pharma company websites useful.
